I fully supported the method for selecting the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017

However, the package of proposals for universal suffrage was voted down by the pan-democratic members.

I opposed filibusters in the LegCo

Some LegCo Members have been filibustering in recent years, and this has delayed many Government policies that would benefit the economy and livelihood development of HK, such as the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau and welfare funding items. I will continue to appeal to rational pan-democratic members to amend the LegCo rules of procedure to stop filibustering.

I expressed concern about the drop in competitiveness of HK and the need to facilitate a headquarters economy

As a first step in facilitating a headquarters economy, the Government has proposed allowing, under specified conditions, interest deductions under the profits tax for corporate treasury centres, and reducing the profits tax for specified treasury activities by 50% in order to attract multinational and Mainland enterprises to establish corporate treasury centres in Hong Kong to perform treasury services for their group companies.

To formulate an effective youth policy and encourage young people to start their own business

I asked the Government to introduce measures to encourage young people to run online businesses, by providing tax concessions, improving the online business environment, offering support related to networking technology and entrepreneurial training, and so forth

I proposed bold and creative submissions to the Budget

I offered suggestions, including a full tax refund for citizens with an annual income less than HK$700,000, a profits tax reduction, and a first-year exemption for student tuition fees in next year’s Budget.

I promoted the use of electric vehicles to improve air quality

I urged the Government to develop ancillary facilities, such as improving the number of electric vehicle charging and parking stations to promote greater use of electric vehicles.
