Quality of Medical Services should not be Affected by Packaged Charging（2010.12.11）

In response to Hon Albert Chan’s enquiry about the views of the private healthcare service providers on the proposed Health Protection Scheme, Dr Choi Kin said that the private healthcare sector was in support of the introduction of a government-regulated private health insurance scheme.  However, they held a strong view that the requirement to provide services at packaged charging based on the diagnosis-related groups structure would affect their service quality in order to contain cost.  Hon Chan Kin-por remarked that it was incumbent on all healthcare professionals to comply with the requirements of professional conduct and act in the best interest of their patients.
